The First Steps Fund

We'd like you to be one of the family...

The PACE Centre is a family charity, and early years Parent and Child (P&C) has been created to transform the lives of young children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy.

P&C gives these children, aged from 6 months to 4 years, the very best start in life. It offers hope and support to the whole family.

Children at P&C have complex difficulties. Everyday skills such as sitting, standing, walking, using their hands, communicating, self-care activities and playing with toys, are all very challenging. P&C is inspired by Conductive Education(CE) and sees the child as a ‘whole person.’

PACE’s trans-disciplinary staff bring together the specialist skills of CE, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy.

P&C provides three key elements...

• Foundation skills for life, enabling children to later access the educational curriculum
• Parents gain knowledge and understanding of their child’s needs
• Parents acquire support and motivation from the whole group

Please take a moment to watch this short film (below), about Caroline and Caitlin. Caroline is mum of Caitlin, aged 4 who has just 'graduated' from P&C. Caroline descibes how Caitlin had to work incredibly hard to learn how to do everything many other children take for granted.

Please join PACE in building the First Steps Fund and make the next generation proud that we had the foresight to recognise the need of others. You can do this by making a secure single or monthly donation, by clicking here for others ways to help, or by leaving a legacy gift to PACE in your Will.
